President Donald Trump’s most recent extension of the Jones Act takes effect today. The 90-day waiver allows foreign ships to transport oil, natural gas, fertilizers, and certain other products among U.S. ports.

Under this extension, the Pentagon will consult with the Maritime Administration to determine which ships are exempt from the 1920 law. The exemption also applies only to energy and agricultural commodities.
White House Spokesperson Taylor Rogers said the waiver is “to ensure our military and key industries maintain uninterrupted access to critical resources.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For discernment for President Trump as he evaluates the energy and agricultural needs of the country.
- For Pentagon and Maritime Administration officials as they determine the cargo that will be exempted from the Jones Act.
- For U.S. military leaders to be prudent in their assessments of the needs for national defense.
